Latin Name: | Origanum vulgare |
Country: | Turkey |
Method: | steam distilled |
Status: | wildcrafted |
Description: This particular Oregano (also known as Wild Marjoram), has a heady, warm and spicy scent that can be quite intense for some individuals. It is important to note that this is not "Oil of Oregano", but the pure essential oil, and should under no circumstances be ingested.
Though it can potentially be quite harsh on the skin, it has many properties which are quite beneficial when safety guidelines are followed. It is a choice oil for periodic acne breakouts, skin infections, insect bites, stings, muscular aches & pains, and painful periods. When diffused, this powerful oil will benefit those combating bronchitis, sinusitis, colds, fever & flu, sore throats, as well as viral & bacterial infections. It has shown to aid digestive complaints and disinfect the air through diffusion as well.
Oregano may serve as a nerve tonic, assist one in reviving their sense, and provide relief from 'imaginary diseases' (hypochondria). Though there is not much data available for the energetics of this oil, it could potentially be used in blends to remove negative energy, impart feelings of well-being, and discourage external influences. It is also noted for being beneficial to the fourth (heart) chakra.
Contraindications: Strong skin and mucous membrane irritant. It is strongly recommended that it is used at 2% dilution or lower. Usage should not exceed 7 to 10 days a time, with a minimum of 7 days 'rest' in between. Do not ingest, use during pregnancy, on babies, children under 12 years of age, on or around pets, or on persistent skin conditions.
