We've listed some of the most commonly asked questions here. If you still have questions, please reach out via phone or email; we'd love to help!

General Q's
Why Should I Private Label?

An excellent first question! Many companies want to drive their brand forward and one of the ways to do this is to offer products with their logo on it. It can seem daunting at first to take this step, however we are here to help and support you along the way. No question is ever silly or unnecessary, and we want to make sure that we have an amazing partnership with everyone we work with.

There are pros and cons to Private Labelling, as with anything. As a retailer, carrying established brands in store that carry a large social following, integrity and credibility can be much easier than launching a brand new label in to compete with those same brands. But, if you've got the marketing tools to drive your branded products forward, we say full steam ahead!

Private Label Ready vs Custom Manufacturing - what's the difference?

Private Label Ready: For some, the ready-to-label products that we already make and package are the ideal solution to fit your needs! We've got our tried-and-true recipes ready to go; you just pick your bottle / jar and closure, label, and you're off! The minimums on these products are also much lower (24's) and more budget-friendly.

Custom Manufacturing: You might be looking to create custom products; it might be something you already make in-house that you'd like someone else to make for you (let us do the dirty work so you can work ON your business and not IN your business!), or it might be something you've dreamed of doing and aren't sure how to do it. Either way, we can help! We make a lot of products for clients that are custom to them and them alone. The quantity minimums for custom products are higher, and the turnaround time can be a bit longer. There may also be up-front Research + Design costs if we are creating a recipe for you from scratch. This being said, you will have something totally custom for you which is pretty sweet, and we think can be well worth the investment!

Labeling
Label Design + Printing Info

Your labels will end up being one of the most important details of your final product. We can provide you the templates and details you need to work with your own team to make sure your labels are set up for success. If you’re hoping to take a crack at them yourself, Canva is an excellent program for designing labels, and it’s free!

Alternatively, our team can work with you and design your labels for you. You just need to provide us with your inspo, logo and we will come up with ideas for you. Design charges are $80/hour with a 1 hour minimum charge.

Why is there such a range in label charges?

The label charge is actually based on both the size and the quantity of the label for your product. Because we work with a local printer, if we were to order 25 of one label they might be close to $1.50 each, however if we ordered 500, the price then drops significantly to that much lower price. Because of that we can’t charge a per-label price up front. That being said, if you have several different products each with the same size label, we can combine those labels into one large total which will give us a volume discount. We will always be 100% up front with all charges before we start production.

I'd like to print my own labels; what info do I need on them?

There are a few key things you need on your labels. If you'd like to read a very long and not exciting document from Health Canada, you can check out the Industry Guide for the labelling of Cosmetics here. In short, here's what you really need on your labels:

  • product identity
  • net quantity
  • name and address of the manufacturer
  • avoidable hazards and cautions
  • ingredients

Ordering + Quantity Updates + Payment Methods
How Long will it Take to Produce My Order?

Because all private label orders are custom, everything is made fresh for you! This means that a lead time of 3-4 weeks is best; we will try our hardest to get it done sooner for you, though!

Private Label Orders Require a Non-Refundable Deposit Prior to Production Start

Because all private label orders are custom, we require a 50% deposit of your order total prior to the start of production. Once your order is received, we will send you an invoice for your non-refundable 50% deposit. This will cover all costs for our purchasing department to place orders for the raw materials and packaging and labels required to produce your product. Once your order is ready to ship, we will contact you with your shipping quote and payment request for the balance owing!

Quantities May Change When Production is Complete

When we are producing a custom product for you (especially a custom scent), we do our very best to hit the order quantity exactly (for instance 24 pieces). On occasion, there may be a slight under- or over- age on quantity. Please note that you will be billed for the final number that we produce, whether it is over or under the original quoted quantity.

What Payment Methods do you Accept for Private Label / Custom Orders?

We accept either direct deposit or e-mail money transfer for all custom orders. With the increase in credit card processing fees and the discounts we offer on Private Label products, we require these methods over credit card payments.

Why does free shipping not apply on private label orders over $1000?

There are a couple of reasons for this, however please note we do shared shipping for Private Label orders over $1000!

First, private label orders from our customers vary in size from 24 pieces of product in a light, plastic tube to hundreds of pieces in heavy, thick glass. When we have orders with large quantities of both product and glass, the shipping charges are too high for us to solely absorb (and shipping rates from our carriers are going up constantly).

Second, our private label products are discounted from regular wholesale, and so there is a savings on those products already. Because we have extended this discount on the products, we are unable to also include free shipping.
