Description: Yarrow is an age old herbal remedy, as the plant possesses many healing qualities for both the skin and internal body. Traditionally, yarrow has been used for fever, respiratory infection, digestive problems, nervous tension and externally for rashes, sores and wounds. Yarrow has quite the reputation in its ability to wound heal, dating all the way back to Achilles. The story claims Achilles used yarrow to heal a wound during battle inflicted by an iron spear. Yarrow is also considered a herb of Venus, inducing sleep, easing pain, lessening bleeding and can be used as a balancer during menopause. The herb is native to Europe, but now grows in most temperate climates; turning into a beautiful deep blue essential oil when dried and distilled.
Yarrow is widely known for its anti-inflammatory, fever reducing, antirheumatic, antiseptic, antispasmodic, astringent, carminative, cicatrisant, diaphoretic, digestive, expectorant, haemostatic, hypotensive, stomachic and tonic properties. Yarrow is an incredible oil that will aid in healing most complaints. The yarrow hydrosol is something to take note of as well; the hydrosol is far more gentle on the body and is a must-have in any first aid kit.
