Spotlight On: Argan Oil

Liquid Gold from Morocco

This oil from the nuts of the fruits of the Argan tree, which grows only in Morocco, is extremely rich in beneficial nutrients, including fatty acids and vitamin E, making it a wonderful choice for use on skin and hair. The oil nourishes, moisturizes and improves skin elasticity, and can be helpful for cases of dry skin, eczema, psoriasis, acne and sunburn. It is non-greasy and absorbs easily, and therefore makes a great natural moisturizer.

When used directly on hair, it has been shown to make hair softer, silkier and shinier, and works well to tame frizz. It can be used on its own directly to provide these benefits or used as an overnight or pre-wash treatment to enhance these qualities.

Argan oil is fantastic rubbed directly on nail cuticles to soften and strengthen the cuticles as well as treat and prevent brittle nails.

The labour required to shell and crush the fruits and then also hand extract Argan oil makes it one of the rarest oils in the world. We use Argan oil from The Apothecary in Inglewood. They source the oil from a women’s cooperative in Morocco, where Argan oil sales have transformed the economy of these women’s village.

We have included Argan oil in our Jack Beard Oil and Beard Balm as it is the perfect ingredient for any product meant to nourish both skin and hair. As an added bonus, its high polyphenol content makes it a strong anti-oxidant, adding to the products’ shelf life.
